Interview with

Teresa Judy

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice.  I have two grown daughters and three wonderful grandchildren.  I love to speak and teach in order to help others become all they were meant to be.  I'm a avid reader and enjoy being outdoors.I was saved at church camp when I was 10 yrs old.  My walk with the Lord was steady but never a direct path.  In other words, my spiritual life has been marked with ups and downs but the Lord has always been faithful.  I am so blessed to be called His daughter!

".... regardless of what has happened to you or the mistakes you've made, there is hope!"

What’s one daily activity you find to be a “non-negotiable” for you to strengthen your relationship with Jesus:

I set my alarm for 45 minutes early in order to start by day with prayer/bible reading.  This is what I consider to be my “no rush” zone.  It is my personal time that I guard and is definitely a “non-negotiable”.  This is so helpful because I get direction and receive peace in order to serve others effectively.

What goals do you have set out for this year?

Cut back my hours as a counselor in order to begin the writing process. Seek out and possibly hire a life coach for accountability. Take steps to find opportunities to speak and serve hurting women.Work with my local church to strength the counseling ministry to those impacted by the pandemic.

Name a moment where you saw God’s faithfulness:

One moment where I saw God’s faithfulness was recently when my husband of 30yrs was unfaithful and nearly bankrupted us.  To say that I was devastated would be an understatement. My church family was basically absent and our couple friends went away (due to not wanting to choose sides). I was felt extremely lonely and abandoned. However, God was faithful to not only supply ALL of my needs but also provide me strength to encourage others who may have walked a similar path.  Today, I am joyful and full of peace.

If you're a fellow advocate for mental health, can you explain why?

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor because I have had my own struggles, doubts and failures in life.  I love people and have a burning desire to offer help and encouragement. My message is always this…. regardless of what has happened to you or the mistakes you’ve made, there is hope!

What is the greatest piece of advice given to you?

The greatest piece of advice given to me was a very simple one of “regardless of what happens to you never give up because as long as you are breathing there is always another opportunity”. This was given to me a long time ago by what I will call my “second mother”. After my real mother passed away early in my life, this pastor’s wife took me under her wing and offered love and support. She is now 90 yrs old and in excellent health. I talk to her daily and she still provides me with encouragement and wisdom. I am so blessed to have her in my life!
