Finding Peace in His Presence
We can’t afford to be without peace.
The weight of the world feels heavy to those of us that are living in turmoil, or have access to social media highlighting the chaos.
We see division.
Hatred.
Discrimination.
Pain.
Loss.
Defeat.
Devastation.
It’s easy (and frankly, understandable) to allow the weight of such brokenness to overcome our minds with worry.
What will happen to my country?
What kind of world am I bringing my child into?
What if my loved one(s) get sick?
Through prayer we can ask earnestly and humbly for peace in the turmoil. We can ask for wisdom and discernment to distinguish what is truth and what is a lie.
“Between stimulus and response lies a space. In that space lies our power to choose our response.” -Victor Frankl
Our stimulus right now are the situations presented in front of us: Headliner News.
Confrontations between loved ones and strangers.
Days not going according to plan.
We can’t control what happens to us, but we can control how we respond to the situation. We have the power to choose our response. Don’t allow yourself to join in on the anxious-heart-and-mind state. Don’t allow yourself to choose a response that only brings more turmoil and chaos.
Choose joy.
Choose peace.
Choose Jesus.
Hold tight to the truth that in everything, He’s got this.
We are instructed not to worry because He has a plan for our good and His glory. (Matt 6:25-33, Romans 8:28)
Scripture teaches us that we have the free will to make genuine choices, and yet, God’s still sovereign over it all. Nothing happens by chance or fate. Just as a king has the sovereign power to rule over his kingdom, his people have free will to make their day-to-day choices. It can be a difficult truth for us to grasp, and that’s why faith is necessary.
Faith that whatever we decide, He’s got this.
While we have the power to choose how we respond, we also have the power to choose to walk in faith by trusting His sovereignty. When we shift our mindset to trust in His Word, using wisdom in how we react to our situations, we then can find true peace. He calls to us to abide in Him daily, because He is the only one who can bring perfect peace.
When you find yourself in a space that needs peace, tune out the overwhelming shouts of the world, and hone in into His presence; “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” -Phillippians 4:6
Through prayer we can ask earnestly and humbly for peace in the turmoil. We can ask for wisdom and discernment to distinguish what is truth and what is a lie.
He is there, waiting. All you have to do is seek Him.
How?
Pray.
Read the Word.
He’s laid out the blueprints for you on how to fight your battles.
You just have to do it.
With you in this,
